Blind Artist Vision

Updated: Aug 5

Welcome to My Blog!

I am a visually impaired artist, now mainly working in soft pastels for their richness and intensity. I have also enjoyed experimenting with watercolors. My compositions are people, places, and things and as my vision has diminished, my focus is less on detailed realism and more interpretive. Vision loss makes drawing more challenging, but it also makes for an interesting artistic journey. I feel that my painting process is becoming less technical and more spiritual.

This blog is going to be about my creative process, my struggles and triumphs with my vision loss, and my basic love to create – be it art or coming up with a good new recipe. I am going to share what I think and do, inevitably from a blind person’s perspective and always from a heartfelt place.

You can see my artwork in the galleries on my website. The galleries include works in the following categories: Still Life; Figurative; Scenic: United States; Scenic: Abroad; and Interpretive.

Several years ago, I was the co-editor and a contributing author to another blog, Vision through Words: Poetry and Short Essays by Visually Impaired and Blind Writers, where I explored my creative energies through writing. In this blog, Blind Artist Vision, I return to that project of exploring creativity in all its forms through the eyes of a blind artist.

You can expect a new post every two weeks.

I hope you will join me!
